Cedarcrest Hospital, CT

Cedarcrest in Newington, CT is an abandoned hospital that was built in 1910 when it was originally named The Hartford County Home for the Care and Treatment of Person's Suffering from Tuberculosis (a very long name, I know). Luckily, 2 decades later the name was changed to Cedarcrest Sanatorium, but also continued to treat those diagnosed with tuberculosis and other diseases in the 1960's. In February of 1976, the campus became a part of the Department of Mental Health and was reopened as a psychiatric facility known as the Cedarcrest Regional Hospital. The new hospital helped those who suffered from mental disorders and addictions, but eventually closed in 2010. There are some rumors that the building may be haunted, but there is no proof that the rumors are true.
I visited the hospital on the same day that I did with Johnsonville. Although we didn't get to go inside because of certain reasons that I will explain later, we did get some amazing pictures of the outside.
If you would like directions the hospital is in Newington, CT on Russell Road just off the Berlin Turnpike. Remember enter at your own risk, stay safe and respect authority.
The reason we did not get to go inside is because while we were taking pictures, a police car rolled up beside us and the police man inside asked us what we were up to. We told him we were only taking pictures and in no way were going to deface any of the property. He understood and was very lenient about what we were doing. He proceeded to tell us that the hospital had recently been broken into by an unknown person and had been robbed of its copper piping. There were a lot of people looking into the story and he was just watching the property to protect it. He very nicely told us that he would've loved to let us in and give us a tour, but wasn't allowed to because of the recent robbery.
Here are the only pictures I could capture of the place.

That could be a possibility! It's a bummer that someone would steal from there though :/

I know it is but hopefully the state will be able to replace the copper piping and secure the point where the thieves entered the building. also, there is a trail that leads to the top of cedar mountain against the property line of cedarcrest which is surrounded by a chain link fence. there may or may not be holes in the fence but the police cant see towards the fence line so people can get in that way. the building is also not security alarmed but still has power and still has an active fire alarm system

Police now use this building for training fire arms. There is security now on the grounds.

If you find a place to park and walk on Russell Road in Newington just off of the Berlin Trnpk, you will find multiple trails that lead straight up the mountain. If you look on your phones map you will find the structure which makes it easier to follow. Once you near the building, you can follow the fence (make sure you go left and not right, there are buildings that are occupied by the government in this direction) You will eventually find a small clipped up part of the fence where you can get through. Once inside the fence you walk straight and find the old volleyball court and main grounds. The main building that remains has a creepy essence. All the lower doors and windows were obviously boarded and locked, but many planks have been removed and there are dozens of shattered windows where you can get in. The outside is marked up with loads of asbestos signs and littered with simunation shells (rounds that fire balls of paint as opposed to bullets) that I assume they use for FBI or police training. Be careful when coming here though as many of my friends have been unlucky and ran into the authorities. Patrol nowadays seems extremely lackluster, I was at the property the other day and it was just as creepy as ever
